For you, dear one

To you, friend who is tired:

Jesus is enough for you.

To you, mama, whose baby won’t sleep at night:

When you are exhausted and cry in front of the other moms at playgroup.  When you look at your baby and your heart swells so big with love, and you don’t know how to hold love that big, but you really could just use a day (please, God) of rest…

Jesus is enough for you.

To you, sweet wife, whose husband long ago stopped believing the things you know to be true in your heart:

When you lie awake at night after he has fallen asleep. When you pray with all your might that he would know your God again. When you ache for his soul in your deepest places, and the tears fall silently.

Jesus is enough for you.

To you, dear love, who has so much to give:

When you wish that your house was a home.  When you long for a husband to live life beside, to share your wild adventures and also just your simplest quiet things. When you want somebody to call because your tire went flat, or you had a bad day at work, or really just that it would be nice to be known and laid bare a little.

Jesus is enough for you.

To you, hard worker, who is barely getting by:

When you go to the building every day, and it’s so so hard.  When you are just trying to make ends meet, but you’re barely hanging on.  When you have big dreams and you feel so stuck.  You want to fly to the moon and back, but there are bills and ramen noodles and so many things that make the moon feel too far away.

Jesus is enough for you.

To you, precious woman, whose womb does not yet hold a soul:

When you just want a little life to hold, and it hurts so bad.  When you pray that God would give you patience, but all you really want every second of every day is a baby.  Your baby.  The one you’ve been dreaming of.  The little heartbeat in your belly.  The little bear in your arms.

Jesus is enough for you.

To you, beautiful, with that body that feels like a foe.

When you don’t feel comfortable in your own skin.  When you look down and see the postpartum scars, or the legs that are too skinny, or the the clothes that you don’t fit into.  When it hurts because you want to feel and look healthy, but you can’t even start. When the words you speak to yourself constantly tear you down, and you believe the lies.  You believe them.

Jesus is enough for you.

He is enough for you.

“The Lord your God is in your midst,

The Mighty One will save;

He will rejoice over you with gladness,

He will quiet you with his love,

He will rejoice over you with singing.”

Zephaniah 3:17
